Angthong National Marine Park

The Mo Koh Angthong National Marine Park belongs to Koh Samui, in the Province Suratthani. The National Marine Park was designated the 21th national park of Thailand on November 12, 1980, and covers an area of 102 square kilometer. About 84 square kilometer of the area is marine. The Angthong National Marine Park consists of 42 islands, most of them, high steep limestone mountains. Because of it’s natural beauty, the park has become a popular destination amongst tourists.

Koh Samui is the largest of three islands off the east coast of Thailand. Koh Samui is Thailand’s 3rd largest island, with an area of 228.7 km. The most popular and commercialized beaches of Koh Samui are Chaweng Beach and Lamai, in the east and in the south of the island. The northern beaches and their adjacent villages Mae Nam, Bop Phut, Bang Ruk or “Big Buddha” and Choeng Mon are more peaceful choices for your stay. The west-coast beaches of Samui are still comparatively quiet.

Koh Tao, located about 70km of the eastern shore of the Gulf of Thailand is an island of only about 21 km². As of 2006 it’s official population number in 1382. Ban Mae Haad, the main town of Koh Tao, is located on the west-coast of the island. The economy of the island is almost exclusively centered around tourism, especially scuba diving. The pristine coral reefs of Koh Tao bring divers to the island for more than 25 years now, and they have made the island famous for scuba diving and diving courses.
