For many Tourists, it is little more than a point of passage to the famous Gulf of Thailand islands, Koh Tao, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. Chumphon boasts beautiful beaches, excellent scuba diving, and exceptional natural amenities. You will find several national parks nearby where jungle treks or motorcycle tours to waterfalls and caves can easily be arranged.
Koh Samui is the largest of three islands off the east coast of Thailand. Koh Samui is Thailand’s 3rd largest island, with an area of 228.7 km. The most popular and commercialized beaches of Koh Samui are Chaweng Beach and Lamai, in the east and in the south of the island. The northern beaches and their adjacent villages Mae Nam, Bop Phut, Bang Ruk or “Big Buddha” and Choeng Mon are more peaceful choices for your stay. The west-coast beaches of Samui are still comparatively quiet.
Koh Phangan is a natural paradise island in the southern Gulf of Thailand, Koh Phangan serves as the getaway retreat, where one may go relaxing on quiet deserted beaches, snorkeling and learning to dive at the distinctive island of Koh Maa in the north west of the island. Koh Phangan offers many yoga centers, diving schools, kite surfing and now also sailing in the Gulf of Thailand. Excursions are offered to the nearby Angthong Marine Park, to Koh Samui, to Koh Tao and to Koh Nang Yuan.
