The National Marine Park was designated the 21th national park of Thailand on November 12, 1980, and covers an area of 102 square kilometer. About 84 square kilometer of the area is marine. The Angthong National Marine Park consists of 42 islands, most of them, high steep limestone mountains. Because of it’s natural beauty, the park has become a popular destination amongst tourists.

Chumphon Town and Province is a rather quiet, low-key tourist destination. Chumphon lays roughly halfway between Bangkok and the border with Malaysia.
